First Steps is a baby journal with a unique, refreshing spiritual focus. It encourages families to cultivate and record a child’s “journey of faith and parish life,” from birth and Baptism all the way to First Reconciliation.
Parents fill the book with photos and answers to questions about the significant events and developments in a child’s first seven years. As they do, they are prompted to consider the child’s significance as the fruit of their love; the meaning of Baptism as the child’s “spiritual birthday”; signs of the child’s spiritual growth, year by year; and the critical role of parish life in raising the child in the Faith.
Created especially for Catholic families, First Steps offers these features you won’t find in other baby journals:
• Prayers for the child and the home, to God, the saints, and the child’s guardian angel • Thoughtful quotes to ponder from Scripture, the Catechism, and the saints • Brief saint biographies of special interest to children and family life • A section designed to strengthen the involvement of the child’s family in the parish • A final encouragement to the child, in the seventh year, to prepare for First Reconciliation.
Beautifully designed and illustrated, First Steps makes a perfect gift for the birth or Baptism of a child. Its emphasis on parish life makes it especially attractive as a pastoral gift on those occasions. It provides Catholic parents a thoughtful, faith-deepening way to tell the story of how a child came to grow, not just in age, but in grace.

Great balance of life and faith milestones Review by Mary Richardson
My husband and I were delighted to receive this book as a baby shower gift. It has places to keep track of a great balance of life and faith milestones for the child, all the way through second grade! It is very encouraging to see the example of saints on each page, and the milestones charted also help a child to have goals to look forward to, such as "Are you learning to share your toys?" for the 4th year milestone. I also like the variety of life milestones such as "Poem we really liked?" (also 4th year). It is attractively illustrated and very well written. It is a very joyful book to read and we look forward to completing it for our baby.I highly recommend this book! In fact, buy a few so you have one for each of your children, even if they are yet-to-be-born. Thank you Conor and Chris! Job well done. A Catholic milestone book was very needed... you've filled a niche. (Posted on 6/12/2014)
Remember Your Child's Spiritual Life from Birth to Sacraments Review by Lisa M. Hendey "Mom, Blogger, Podcaster, Author"
This terrific book is much more than a baby book - it's truly an opportunity to document your child's life from womb through First Reconciliation. Brightly colored, adorably illustrated (in a non baby-ish way that young children will love) and including information on several saints, this will be a book both you and your child will treasure. The book contains a year by year entry through the 7th year of your child's life which included favorites, milestone information, but also a documentation of spiritual growth. The book ends with information on preparing for your child's first reconciliation and an entry where your child can recount that special sacramental experience in his or her own words. I wish it would also have included a similar page for First Holy Communion. A terrific gift - great even if you have a toddler or young child! (Posted on 5/22/2014)
